Advanced Disposal, an integrated environmental services company, announced the hiring of Wesley A. Salmons, certified director of safety (CDS) as the new corporate director of Safety and Compliance.

Salmons has more than 15 years of progressive leadership, safety and risk management experience in a variety of transportation companies, as well as the solid waste sector. Salmons joins us from Team Drive-Away as their director of Safety and Recruiting and prior to that with Deffenbaugh Industries as the director of Safety. From 2007 until 2013, Salmons worked for Veolia Environmental Services, first as area safety manager in Illinois and next as regional safety manager for the Midwest region. Salmons was also a route supervisor with Allied Waste in Kansas City, Kan. for over two years, before joining the United States Air Force.

“We are very excited for Wesley to join Advanced Disposal and apply his extensive knowledge-base in not only safety practices, but also in risk assessment and management, policy development, training, defensive/preventative driving techniques, and program implementation and evaluation,” commented COO, John Spegal. “Service First, Safety Always is our mission and is at the heart of everything we do. Having Wesley come aboard with solid waste industry experience plus extensive transportation-related expertise will allow him to hit the ground ‘running’ (carefully of course), and begin reinforcing our mission immediately.”

Salmons is a candidate for a bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health management from Columbia Southern University, received his associate’s degree in IT and is a certified Director of Safety (CDS) by the North American Transportation Management Institute (NATMI). In addition, he has received specialized transportation training as well as extensive ground safety training as a safety specialist and safety craftsman during his 10 years in the United States Air Force. Salmons joined the team on August 15, 2016, is based out of our corporate headquarters in Ponte Vedra, Fla. and reports directly to COO, John Spegal.
