Advanced Disposal, an integrated environmental services company, is pleased to announce the 2015 Scholastics, Athletics, Leadership and Character (SALC) Scholarship award winners presented to Ponte Vedra High School (PVHS) seniors Nicole Greene and Hanks Massey. Greene and Massey were presented with a $2,500 scholarship for achieving success in scholastics and athletics while exhibiting the highest levels of leadership and quality character at a ceremony yesterday by Advanced Disposal Chief Marketing Officer Mary O’Brien.

Greene will be attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to compete on their track team. She graduates in the top 10 percent of her class as a National Honor Society Scholar and will be attending the Academy of Biotechnology and Medical Research during her tenure at UNC. Greene is ranked first in the U.S. for the high jump and won the National AAU Championship and the Youth National USA Track and Field Champion. She holds multiple Florida State Championships and broke numerous records in invitational meets. She is also ranked in the top five in Florida in both triple jump and high jump.

Massey will be attending the University of Virginia. He graduates in the top three percent of his class as a National Honor Society Scholar and was selected for Youth Leadership Jacksonville during his junior year. He was captain of the PVHS golf team, which won the State Championship in 2013 and Regional Championship in 2014. He was selected All County for St. Johns County and All First Coast.

“No matter one’s age or position in life or work – a garbage truck driver or a CEO - you should always be a student, physically active and totally committed to leading by example and maintaining the highest character. These are qualities that should never be wasted, and Advanced Disposal is proud to be able to recognize these students who are so worthy of this scholarship,” said Chief Marketing Officer Mary O’Brien.
