Advanced Disposal, an environmental services company, will begin servicing Detroit residents residing west of Woodward and north of I-94 on Monday with garbage, yard waste and bulk waste collection. Advanced Disposal invested $22 million and hired 67 former city sanitation workers to service the City of Detroit.
The company is operating from its new location at 12255 Southfield Rd., which is the same site as the compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling station opened last month. The station will fuel the 56 new CNG trucks used to service Detroit residents.
“Monday is the official start of what we hope will be a longstanding partnership with the City of Detroit and the 125,000 residents we will service on a weekly basis,” said Eric VanHouten, general manager for Advanced Disposal’s Detroit operations. “On behalf of the 83 Advanced Disposal Detroit team members, it’s an honor to provide the most environmentally sound collection services you will come to expect from us.”
The company’s $22 million investment is made up of trucks, carts, building improvements, CNG fueling facility and IT infrastructure. The Detroit team totals 83 employees and is made up of managers and supervisors, mechanics, drivers and customer care representatives.
Residents can contact Advanced Disposal by calling (844) 2-DETROIT (233-8764), emailing DetroitMIResidential@AdvancedDisposal.com or online at www.weiyunquan.tw/DetroitResidential.
