Second Annual Charity Golf Shootout Tournament Helps Clay County Families in Need
More than 60 golfers will tee off Friday for the Second Annual Rotary Club of Orange Park Sunset Charity Shootout Golf Tournament at Eagle Landing Golf Course, located at 3989 Eagle Landing Parkway. Advanced Disposal, Clay County’s residential solid waste and recycling provider, is a proud sponsor of the event, which benefits local families in need.
“We hope to help even more of our neighbors in need with proceeds from Friday’s tournament,” said Joe Anzalone, chairman of Orange Park Sunset Rotary Golf Shootout. “Given the current state of our economy, families loosing jobs, and most local charities receiving less in contributions, our golfers’ participation and the funds raised are appreciated now more than ever.”
Thanks to last year’s tournament, a good portion of the net proceeds went toward helping 67 families in Clay County receive Thanksgiving dinners last November.
“We’re proud to support the Rotary Club of Orange Park Sunset and all that they do for our neighbors and this community,” said Mary O’Brien, chief marketing officer for Advanced Disposal. “We hope that our contributions, along with those of other businesses, will help the organization provide for more families in 2011.”
Golfers are primarily Clay County residents and business owners; many are also part of the Rotary Club of Orange Park Sunset Membership. The organization meets in the evening and has a charitable focus of giving to the less fortunate. The tournament will be in a shamble format, which is the best drive, and each player finishes his or her own ball with a double bogey maximum per hole.
