Operations to Consolidate and Direct Waste to Company's Newest Landfill in South Alabama
Advanced Disposal Services, Inc. today announced the opening of its Linden Transfer Station, located at 400 Industrial Dr.
The facility is in the Linden Industrial Park on the same property as Advanced Disposal’s local office and hauling company. The hauling company’s collection service area includes the following counties: Choctaw, Clarke, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Marengo, Perry, Sumter and Wilcox. Waste taken to the Linden Transfer Station will be properly transported and safely disposed of at Advanced Disposal’s Turkey Trot Landfill in Washington County.
The transfer station’s hours of service are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and closed on weekends. Residential and commercial materials not picked up directly by Advanced Disposal can be taken to the Linden Transfer Station at a rate of $45 per ton. Acceptable materials include municipal solid waste as well as construction materials, such as shingles, drywall, concrete, etc. However, tires and batteries are not accepted.
“We’re excited to open Advanced Disposal’s twenty-first transfer station here in Linden, which will consolidate and direct waste materials into our state-of-the-art Turkey Trot Landfill,” said Dave Lavender, regional vice president for Advanced Disposal. “This addition will help grow our service footprint as well as make the waste stream in Western Alabama more efficient and, thus, more cost effective for residents and businesses.”
Advanced Disposal has grown to hold the position of fourth largest privately-held solid waste disposal company in the United States, providing non-hazardous solid waste collection, transfer, recycling and disposal services throughout the Southeast. Since the company’s start in November 2000 in Jacksonville, it has established 33 collection operations, 11 landfills, 21 transfer stations and nine recycling facilities in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
