For the first time in 15 years, the City of Smyrna will change commercial solid waste providers. The City of Smyrna awarded Advanced Disposal Services Atlanta, LLC (Advanced Disposal) its solid waste disposal contract to become effective March 1, 2010. Additionally, Advanced Disposal will offer commercial/business customers within the City limits several new money-saving commercial recycling programs.
The Smyrna contract also provides the impetus for Advanced Disposal’s further expansion into the Cobb County and western Atlanta metro marketplace. Advanced Disposal plans a $300,000 capital investment at the recently acquired transfer facility located at 4696 South Cobb Drive in Smyrna. Charlie Gray, Area President – Georgia, says, “Advanced Disposal has proposed a significant expansion of solid waste and recycling services that with the award of the City of Smyrna contract will create up to 14 new, above average wage jobs inside the City.”
Mary O’Brien, Advanced Disposal’s Chief Marketing Officer, offered “Advanced Disposal looks forward to becoming a significant, visible partner in Smyrna, Cobb County, and surrounding communities. With our recently announced partnership with the Cobb County Board of Commissioners, Advanced Disposal is building a state-of-the-art recycling facility just north of the City of Smyrna at County Services Parkway. Our investments in Smyrna and Cobb County will create jobs, generate additional local government revenues, and reduce expenses – that is the power of partnership that Advanced Disposal prides itself.”
