Advanced Disposal Services, Inc. celebrates an important milestone this week – the company’s 10 year anniversary. In that time Advanced Disposal has become a leading environmental services company providing non-hazardous solid waste collection, transfer, recycling and disposal services throughout the Southeastern United States.
“We’re thankful to reach this 10 year anniversary milestone earned by the hard work and dedication of our 1,826 employees,” said Advanced Disposal Chairman and CEO Charlie Appleby. “But our success is not determined by the ups and downs of a tumultuous economy. It is determined by the way we, the Advanced Disposal family, conduct ourselves day in and day out, on the street, serving our customers.”
Since Advanced Disposal’s start in November 2000 in Jacksonville, Fla., the company has completed 81 acquisitions and development projects and spent over $480 million including more than $80 million this year. Revenue has grown at a compound average growth rate of 53 percent per year to more than $300 million in 2010.
Advanced Disposal has established 33 collection operations, 11 landfills, 20 transfer stations and nine recycling facilities in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Tennessee and most recently in South Carolina. Advanced Disposal services 159 city and county contracts, representing more than 753,000 residential customers. Advanced Disposal also services more than 45,500 commercial and industrial and construction and demolition customers. The company has grown to hold the position of fourth largest privately-held solid waste disposal company in the United States.
“We aren’t waiting for the economy to rebound to take advantage of growth opportunities,” Appleby said. “We’re poised for growth now and have the best team in the business.”
